Meaning of Dreams

Dreams are a way for our subconscious to make sense, or address, the most important issues of our day to day life. Though, it must be said, the things that we perceive as important when we are awake are not always the same things our subconscious perceives as important.

However, more often than not, the perception of our subconscious in regard to what is affecting us in our lives is much more astute than we are about ourselves while awake.

Imagine, for instance, if we always knew exactly what was deeply upsetting us, if we were always in touch with our deeper emotions, and how our lives would be different. We would not need counselors, psychologists and psychoanalysts for one.

On the other hand we may spend all our time thinking about how deeply upset we are about seemingly random events. This is why we have dreams, so we can build our lives and relationships while we're awake, then sort out the little niggles and less obvious obstacles while we are asleep - solving the mysteries of our anxieties.

By understanding the meaning of dreams and looking at what happens to us while we sleep and recurring dreams we can, in a significant way, become our own therapists. Or at the least have some strong clues towards what issues are bothering us so we can tackle them head on, either by ourselves or with the help of others.
